LINDSAY HENDRICKS Austin, TX based JEWELER and METALSMITH.
Since a child I have been surrounded by supporting and practicing artists in the family. I always envisioned myself as an artist, but never saw metalsmithing and jewelry design coming... until my first metals class in college. I am still ever so grateful that I found an art form that truly speaks to my soul and heart. The process involved in designing, smithing, and fabricating is just as exciting as day one. I continue to learn and create on a daily basis and so happy to share all of my designs with you.
I had the opportunity to develop my skills in the craft of jewelry during my time at the University of North Texas, where I received my BFA, and in Cortona, Italy. In 2006, I spent a summer in Italy where I practiced methods of silver and bronze casting and art history. My time in Italy is still a large source of inspiration that exists in my designs today.
In addition to being a studio jewelry artist living and working in South Austin, I am also the founder of a Jewelry Outreach Program for teens in public schools and the Young Metalsmiths Program Director for Creative Side Jewelry Academy. Sharing my knowledge and passion of jewelry making with kids and teens has made me a better jeweler and reminds me of why I do what I do. My main goal in the classroom every day is to encourage individual and creative expression through the art of jewelry and be the best mentor to each and every student.
I have been fortunate enough to be represented in multiple jewelry galleries, most recently including Society of North American Goldsmiths conference in Boston: Adorned Spaces : OCHO, The Studio of Brooklyn, NY, Gallery Black Lagoon of Austin, Kathleen Sommers of San Antonio, and Equinox Gallery of San Antonio. I was also the Resident Artist of Equinox Gallery in 2012 under the wing of metalsmith Alejandro Sifuentes. I have been a featured jewelry artist for Austin Shines Design Competition of Eliza Page, Accessories Finalist of the RAW organization, included in an online gallery for Art Jewelry Magazine, and a featured designer of international blogs such as The Jewelry Observer and the Carrot Box.
Thank you for your support and love,
